 House Blessing & Cleansing

When blessing and cleansing a home, it is good to first burn a cleansing incense/smudge like, "White Sage" in the home/space before you prepare for the rest of the ritual. (You may even want to do this the very first day you are moved in)

You should have -- in addition to the incense --
A white candle,
A bowl of salt
Pure water and a bowl of herbs.
Flowers -- Particularly nice are rose buds for love, lavender for preservation, other flowers
Sage for protection.

Begin by lighting the Sage and cleansing the space you wish to bless, chanting:

"In the name of the Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost
I cleanse this space in peace and Love"

You should proceed around the house,(clock wise) and cleanse the area with the salt and water.
Be sure to get each corner, window, door, drain, etc. Chanting:

"I speak peace here in the name of Jesus. I invite you to come, Holy Spirit, and fill this place. Fear (or whatever), leave."

When this is finished, sprinkle the blessing herbs/flowers in each corner, and invoke whatever deities or properties you wish on the home, such as peace, prosperity, remove negative energies. Chanting:

"Bless this space in the name of the Holy Trinity, The Father The Son and the Holy Ghost."

You and anyone who is to share the home with you should share food and drink together afterward. Don't forget to leave a little of the food and drink on your Ancestor Altar as an offering.

If you are performing this ritual "for" some one else, a gift for the home owner should be left.

I think it is a good idea to renew your blessing on a regular basis, maybe once or twice a year. As you live in your house, fill it with praise and constant thanksgiving. You will love the atmosphere in your home and everyone who enters in will love it too.
